Itinerary:
We’ll hike from Dundas Station to south of Union, without ever going outside! So this hike will definitely go, rain or shine!

Come explore Toronto’s vast PATH underground system. With no sun or CN tower to help keep your sense of direction intact – and forget about using your gps! -- it’s easy to get turned around and “lost” in this labyrinth. We’ll start indoors at Dundas Station, and wind our way south. Some directions lead to a dead end, and some are loops, but very rarely do any of them follow the streets above! We won’t possibly get to explore the entire path in one go, but I will sketch out a route that should take us about 5 – 6 km worth of walking. And since it’s ridiculously easy terrain, you can count on a pace of around 5 km /hour.

We’ll end up at the new Longo’s south of Union station, where we can get a coffee and something from the salad bar and sit in their lounge!

Most of the shops, once we’re past the Eaton Centre, will be closed by the time we’re passing them. The PATH mainly caters to the business folks who work downtown, like me! But it will still be fun to see what’s there, and what goes on after hours.

From the City of Toronto’s web site: According to Guinness World Records, PATH is the largest underground shopping complex with 28 km (17 miles) of shopping arcades. It has 371,600 sq. metres (4 million sq. ft) of retail space. In fact, the retail space connected to PATH rivals the West Edmonton Mall in size
