Itinerary:

We'll hike around the scores of large, 1880's institutional brick buildings, which used to be the Mimico Insane Asylum. Deserted by the current residents of Humber College at this time of year, it looks like it could be a pre-turn of the century (possibly New York?) big city before the population and building swelled.

We'll also explore parts of the Lakeshore trail (hike is approx. half hour to 45 mins) before heading to The Powerhouse and Colonel Samuel Smith Park Skating trail to do some skating. We will start skating during daylight and then finish up after an hour or so with light from the lamps that line the trail.

We will probably be done skating by approx. 6pm. There is an option to hike (10-15 mins) to the Marlies arena to get a hot chocolate or coffee before taking the bus back to the subway.

There is NO SKATE RENTAL here - you must BRING YOUR OWN SKATES. There are clean, nice washrooms and a warm change room inside the old Powerhouse to store your boots. There are NO LOCKERS though.

We'll meet at Kipling subway station at 3pm and take the bus down from there together to start the hike from Lakeshore Blvd.
