Write Up:
It was a wonderful night for a moonlight snowshoe/hike. The moon was just visible when we set out but then obscured behind the hills for the next long stretch. After walking through the silent forest for some time, the moonlight was casting enough light to cast a gentle light on the top of the ridge to our left giving a very beautiful effect, though we still couldn't see the moon. Eventually it illuminated the snowy slope to our left enough for the trees to cast shadows and the snow to glimmer. Soon we rounded a corner into a large clearing and had lovely full view of the moon, now much higher in the sky. We wished we had brought camping equipment so we could have spent the night. We had more moonlight on the trip back, which seemed much faster, so we spent a little time at the Peter Cellars/sellers? pub to warm up and get a bit before heading back to the city. David, thanks so much for driving, and Diane for suggesting it. Sue and I loved it. (no donations collected)
