The morning hike to the Eastern Bluffs was Utkarsh's first event as a coordinator, and was made possible by Mike, who posted the original event and planned the picturesque journey. We had several new TOC members, including a tourist couple from Hong Kong! Starting from the Kingston Rd & Guildwood Pkwy intersection, we first visited the Guildwood Park. This was a minor deviation from our original route along the tracks, and added a couple of extra kms to the hike. But it was worth it thanks to the magnificent historic structures and architectural fragments at The Guild, the site of a former artists' colony.

Next, we walked along the bluffs through the Grey Abbey Park, touching the southern edge of the Grey Abbey Ravine. The hike continued despite the rain, before we took a short break at the Ken Morrish Softball Complex (East Point Park). We then walked along the Waterfront trail towards the Highland Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. After crossing the Highland Creek, we walked beside the railway tracks in the rains during our journey through the Port Union Waterfront Park. We finally ended at the Port Union Village Common Park, where free hot coffee was waiting for us thanks to the Port Union Waterfront Festival. Some of us chose to stay back for an hour or so to enjoy the music, dance and martial art performances put up by the local kids.

The weather was not perfect due to the rains, but it made our journey more picturesque. We covered around 11 km, maintaining an average speed of 4+ km/hour. A donation amount of 22 CAD was collected. Thanks to everyone who participated — hope to see you soon at another event!
